On the Fourth of July, eleven ducklings and their mother wandered into our yard. Since we live about two miles away from any duck habitats, we thought we'd help them out by catching them and bringing them to a pond. We caught all eleven ducklings, but mom flew away. We then couldn't bring them to a pond, since they need mom to stay warm at night, and because adult ducks sometimes try to kill ducklings that aren't theirs. Thus began our summer project raising ducklings. Here they are on Day 1. More pictures and stories will follow. We've been holding out because we didn't want to post these cute ducklings and then have to follow up with news of their untimely demise. But, our story has a happy ending, so here you go!
