The answer to our most recent "What Is It" post is also the next step in our Comcast saga. As Lori guessed, it is a satellite dish. Comcast's fundamental problem, besides being craptastic, was that to get the ten or so HD channels that we watch, we had to subscribe to one of their most expensive packages. It just so happens that exactly those channels are in Dish Network's cheapest package. The picture quality is better and the DVR is awesome. We put the dish on the roof of the garage on the side sloping away from the house -- the photo here shows the most that you can see from any location in the backyard. Our neighbors who cut down the huge beautiful shrub bordering our property get the full-on view.
