After seven months without a new episode, Battlestar Galactica finally returned on Friday for the second half of season four. While the show does occasionally have a bad episode (what series doesn't?), this was truly one of the most miserable television experiences we can remember. The episode was indescribably boring, disjoint, full of meaningless and unnecessary scenes, poorly acted, poorly written, poorly directed, and... you get the picture. For those of you who watched it, we found the several minutes of panning through hallways containing sulking ship crew to be especially pathetic. "We're sad. Let's hang out in the hallways and look sad." Huh? The "final cylon," which the show has been hyping since forever, is a secondary, irrelevant (not to mention dead and long forgotten) character. Most of the plot turns simply made no sense. It's as if the show got new writers who hadn't read any of the previous episodes. If the rest of this final season is anything like this episode, they would have been better off not finishing the series at all.
