American Idol: 4 Contestants

We both agreed that Syesha's performances of Proud Mary and A Change is Gonna Come were the best two vocals of the night. Konnor points out that the judges seem to be holding her to a higher standard than the other singers. Jeff, while enjoying Proud Mary, thought it was too much of an attempt to copy Tina Turner. Konnor rebuts that this is exactly the kind of comparison the judges are unfairly making.

We both also liked David Archuleta. Konnor preferred Stand By Me, while Jeff preferred Love Me Tender. Jeff wishes he'd just sing a song straight up and quit adding those note choices that make every song so Archuleta-ey.

We furthermore agreed that David Cook's Hungry Like the Wolf was not so great. It sounded like something you'd hear from someone performing in a bar, and was too shouty. On the other hand, we both liked Baba O'Riley, although it was oddly short. (We also both learned that this song is not in fact titled "Teenage Wasteland.") In order to maintain our household David versus David war, Jeff would place this performance above both of David A's, while Konnor would place it between David A's two performances.

Jason. Not even worth talking about. Is he even trying anymore? No links for you! Jason does get the quote of the night though: "Hey, Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me, and the emp pha na na na na na na following you."

Who should go: Jason. And Paula Abdul.

Both David's are safe another week. This is usually a surprise week so maybe Syesha will go but Jason deserves to leave. I don't think he very much cares.

I agree with Jeff about Proud Mary. In season 2 a gal sang Proud Mary and was awesome.

Picking between the David's will be tough since they are so different. I like them both but as a mother, I've gotta love the baby kid.
