Orchid and Parents

Here is a Laelia Splendid Spire that is now blooming in our greenhouse. The flower spike is about three feet long, with a cluster of about ten flowers. We picked this up from Santa Barbara Orchid Estate, a huge nursery we visited in California a few years ago.



Splendid Spire is a hybrid of Laelia Anceps and Laelia Splendida, shown below (not taken by us). See the family resemblance?
