Sick of the Sycamore

Do yourself and future generations the favor of not planting sycamore trees. (Depending on where you are in the world, you may know them as buttonwoods or plane trees). They are constantly dropping branches, and occassionally entire huge limbs, as in this photo of our front yard. They are easily susceptible to mold and fungus, and have pollen that seems to cause an allergic reaction in almost everyone. Our street is lined with them. We assume they were planted in everyone's yard when the neighborhood was built in the 1940's. It does make the street look nice, but we'd prefer something we could enjoy without having a sneezing fit.

P.S. to Salt Lake residents: this limb did not come down during the Great Wind Storm of 2007 two days ago. It just randomly snapped off three days ago. Maybe the tree knew something.
