California poppies are fun and easy to grow -- buy a pack of seeds at the 99 cent store, sprinkle seeds where desired, water, and enjoy. In fall, collect the seeds, put them in the fridge, and repeat next spring. Full sun is best. We threw about 1,000 seeds in the backyard, and it appears that all 1,000 came up. Here's one.
