Stargate is in its eleventh and unfortunately final season. We've seen all eleven seasons, watching the first six as repeats (it was on Showtime then), then as regular viewers when the show moved to the Sci-Fi Channel in 2002. It's had its low spots, most notably when Richard Dean Anderson left in Season 9, but the series has been outstanding overall. It all started in 1994 with the Stargate movie, which you really must go rent if you've never seen it (or if it's been over 10 years since you've seen it). If you enjoy that, and you've got 220 hours to kill, put all the epidoes in your Blockbuster Queue.
Stargate Atlantis is in its third season and is thankfully a good spinoff. We were afraid it might become the Deep Space 9 of the Stargate world, but it definitely hasn't turned out that way. We're interested to see what direction it will take when the original Stargate ends and Atlantis can exist independently.
