Twisted Pomegranate

In case you were wondering what exactly one "does" with a bonsai, here is a good example. This tree was a cutting (a branch taken from a tree and rooted) about eight years ago. The first picture was taken about five years ago when the main branches were wired into place. The second picture was taken a week ago after a repotting. It is a twisted pomegranate (Punica granatum 'Nejikan'). Unfortunately we can't let it fruit, because that would take energy away from the growth of the branches.

As I look out my window at my pomegranate bush, it's seem amazing that you could keep one so tiny! The orchids are beautiful!
