As a compromise measure for Konnor's poem, Jeff gets to tell a poker story from his trip to Wendover two weeks ago. Single blind $1 to $5 limit Texas Hold'em.
Jeff holds Q♠ K♠.
Blind posts $1. Jeff raises to $4. Two players call.
Flop comes 7♥ J◊ Q♥
Jeff (with top pair) bets $5. Both players call.
Turn comes K♥
Jeff (with top two pair) bets $5. Player A raises to $10. Player B re-raises to $15. Jeff is not happy, knows he is facing at least one player with a flush or a straight, calculates the implied pot odds for hitting a full house on the river, and calls. Player A calls.
River comes Q◊
Jeff (with a full house) stealthfully checks. Player A bets $5. Player B raises to $10. Jeff re-raises to $15. Player A shakes his head and calls. Player B re-raises to $20 (betting is capped). Jeff calls. Player A sighs and calls.
Player B shows A♥ 2♥ for a flush.
Jeff shows Q♠ K♠ for a full house.
Player A says "damn it!" and mucks.
Jeff wins $133.
Here's a picture of Jeff in Las Vegas.
Coffee + going to play poker = happy.
