Karrie sent us some photos and some background on the ten-day festival to Ganesh. At the beginning of the festival, people make and decorate clay statues of Ganesh. Cities make and display larger versions. At the end of the festival, all the Ganeshes are carried to the nearest body of water and dissolved. Here are a before and after of Ganesh. Karrie learned that after the festival, the poor go through the remnants for anything useful.
