
Here (left) is one of Konnor's bonsai. It is a Japanese White Pine, grown from seed in Japan. White pines are recognizable by their small, tight needles in budles of five. These are now very difficult to obtain since the U.S. passed a law a few years ago placing a two-year quarantine on imported bonsai (or, as the law refers to them, "artifically dwarfed trees").
Edit: We just found this picture (right) of the tree in 2002 before Konnor purchased it from his teacher, Boon Manakitivipart. Boon is the sensei of Bay Island Bonsai, and this tree was in the first Bay Island Bonsai show that Konnor attended.
